Choo Wei Sern (Eric) was born and brought up at Melaka, Malaysia. He received both his primary and secondary education at Melaka prior to completing his A Levels at a private college in Subang Jaya, Selangor. Thereafter, he read law at Cardiff University, Wales, where he stayed on to complete the Bar Vocational Course.
He was called to the degree of the utter Bar at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2009 and went to Messrs Skrine in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a pupil. Whilst at Messrs Skrine, he spent extensive periods under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Leong Wai Hong and Ms. Loo Peh Fern of Messrs Skrine, where he learnt the art and skills of commercial litigation.He was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2011 and began his legal practice at Messrs Kesavan & Associates in Melaka.
In 2012, Eric has continued to practice in the name and style of Messrs Othman Hashim & Co. after it merged with Messrs Kesavan & Associates. During these periods, he was exposed to various areas of practice including civil litigation, land reference proceedings and conveyancing.
Outside law, he is active in politics where he believes that the country should progress as one without the division of ethnicity, race or religion.
Despite his ancestral roots from Leizhou, China, he speaks no Leizhou but fluent Malay, English, Chinese, Cantonese and Hokkien.
