Lee Kuang Chaow (Tom) completed his secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan St. Francis Institution, Melaka. He then read law at the University of Malaya where he obtained his law degree.
Upon graduation, Tom read in the chambers of Mr. Tan Hock Chuan at Messrs. Tan Hock Chuan & Co. During his pupillage, he was exposed to the practice of criminal law where his pupil master is a former Deputy Public Prosecutor and a prominent criminal lawyer in Malaysia. He was then admitted and enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2008.
Thereafter, he began his legal practice at Messrs. Chris Koh & Chew where his practice was focused on civil litigation. He then joined Messrs. Chee Siah Le Kee & Partners where he was exposed to the areas of banking and finance and conveyancing before he set up his own practice at Messrs.
Lee Kuang Chaow & Co.Tom became a partner of Messrs. Sern & Lee upon the merger of Messrs. Sern & Co. and Messrs. Lee Kuang Chaow & Co. on 1st August 2013. Tom's current practice involved a mix of both criminal and civil litigation and conveyancing.
Outside legal practice, Tom had served as the Public Relations Officer to the Mayor of the Melaka Historical City Council in 2009 and later, as a local councillor for the same city council in 2012 and 2013. Such appointments have better enhanced his knowledge of the operation of various governmental departments and also his network.
Tom is proficient in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and several Chinese dialects such as Hokkien and Cantonese. He currently serves as the legal advisor for Pertubuhan Peniaga Telekomunikasi Malaysia (PPTM), Pertubuhan Kepolisan Masyarakat Melaka Tengah, Malacca Motor Trade Association as well as the legal advisor for various Chinese temples & associations in Melaka.
